On behalf of the Board of Directors and Officers of The Lopers Club, it is my pleasure to invite you to the Loper Member Appreciation Day, Sunday, July 10.
This year The Lopers Club is celebrating its 40th anniversary! The Lopers Club is not just any running club, it’s YOUR running club, and our theme this year is “40 Years and Running.”
To help celebrate this milestone, Loper Member Appreciation Day will celebrate YOU with special Appreciation Day savings on the 2016-17 season’s registration, as well as an opportunity to vote on The Lopers Club’s new Board of Directors. You will also get to meet many of this coming season’s Pace Leaders. In keeping with Lopers tradition, we’ll have yummy snacks after we put in our mileage.
This event will be held at Drayson Center (25040 Stewart St., Loma Linda) beginning at 6 a.m. Please see the schedule at the end of this letter for a list of the day’s festivities.
Save on Registration: Check out this ONE-DAY-ONLY special registration rate. On Sunday, July 10 you can sign up for the 2016-2017 clinic for only $80, a savings of $20. There were also be a $20 discount for the Family membership (consisting of two adults living at the same address). A Family membership will only be $130 that day. This is how The Lopers Club wants to celebrate YOU and show our appreciation.
Meet Your Pace Leaders: Russ Barber has returned as Pace Leader Coordinator and has recruited many beloved and new Pace Leaders to “Lead the Pack” this season. From the 7-minute to 17-minute pace group, no Loper is left behind! Among the Pace Leaders are Ron Whitehead, Bill Carter, Marco Arteaga, Judy Remele, Angel Perez, Gail Ferranti, Mable Lai, Andy Sandiford, Steve VanEsch, Jacque Irons, Jim Hughes, Dick Dawson, Jose (a.k.a. “The Flash) Valenzuela, Eileen Gallardo, Mike Thams, Kristy Loufek, Tom Kenefick, Leandre Green, Colleen Sproul, and Marian DeLeon.
What about you? We are still looking for a few more Pace Leaders. See Russ at the July 10 celebration if you’re interested in joining our pacing team.
Vote for the Lopers Board of Directors: At the July 10 meeting, you’ll vote for The Lopers Board of Directors. Only members from the 2015-16 season are eligible to vote for the board. The Lopers Board meets approximately monthly, chooses Club Officers, and is responsible for overseeing the management of the club and its activities. The Lopers is 100% volunteer-driven and all board members are expected to regularly attend Sunday trainings and spend volunteer time for the club beyond simply attending board meetings.
If you have an interest in serving on the Lopers Board in the upcoming season, you must nominate yourself so we know you are interested and willing to spend the necessary volunteer time. Please email the nomination committee at email@example.com before June 30 indicating your interest and willingness to serve on the board and serving the appropriate volunteer time. In that email, please also answer the following two questions (limiting your responses to approximately 50 words for each question):
1. Tell about yourself and your history with The Lopers Club
2. How would it benefit The Lopers Club for you to serve on the Board of Directors?
Please contact the nomination committee at firstname.lastname@example.org if you know of someone you think should be (and wants to be) on the board but is unable to send in a self-nomination before June 30.
We look forward to seeing you as we celebrate our 40th run-niversary year!
