Announcements

Congratulations to all finishers of the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon! Results for all finishers are available on the active.com web site.

The opening day for the 2010-2011 Marathon and Half Marathon will be August 1, 2010, with training for the Surf City Half Marathon on February 6, 2011 and the Los Angeles Marathon on March 20. The clinic will be held in Loma Linda, at
the Drayson Center, on the campus of the Loma Linda University. Click here for more information.

We regret that we are unable to have this year's Marathon and Half Marathon clinic at the California Citrus State Park as we have for the past three years, because state budget cuts prevent them from providing the support we need for a quality program. We hope to find a suitable meeting location in Riverside sometime during the coming year, so we can resume meeting in Riverside for the 2011-2012 clinic or perhaps sooner. In the meantime, Riverside members are invited to join us in Loma Linda, where we will once again meet as a single club starting August 1, 2010.

Current Information

Registered Lopers are invited to join the Lopers Club Network, to receive email notifications of interest to active Lopers (not too many!) and for other benefits. Go to http://lopersnetwork.ning.com for more information or to join. This is for Lopers members only; you will need your membership number on your Lopers tag for your application to join to be accepted. Once you join the network, please also join the group for your pace group and location.

The on-line discussion group for the Lopers Speed Group is available at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/loperspeed_news/. The Lopers wish to thank Russ Barber for leading this group.

Click here for Suggested Maintenance, Full and Half Marathon Training and Marathon Recovery Schedules that can be used for any race that you select.

Lopers members can join the Drayson Center Gym for a significantly reduced cost of $250.00 per year. Membership includes use of pool, weight room, aerobic classes, etc. You can do your cross training at the gym! Check at the Loper desk on Sunday morning to sign up. This offer is good through the Lopers only.
Loma Linda Chapter

The Lopers club was founded in Loma Linda, California, and continues to have a successful program there. The Loma Linda Chapter meets at 6:30 AM on Sundays at Drayson Center, on the campus of the Loma Linda University. On August 1, 2010, we will begin the 2010-2011 Marathon and Half Marathon Clinic at this location.

Click here for additional information and and training route maps for the Loma Linda location.

Riverside Chapter

For the past three years the Lopers Club has also had a very successful chapter at the California Citrus State Park in Riverside. Unfortunately, because of state budget cuts the Citrus Park can no longer provide the support we need for a high quality program there. We have been unable to find an alternative suitable meeting place that is available in time for this year's Clinic opening. Therefore, we will all be meeting once again as one club in Loma Linda until further notice. We hope to have a suitable meeting place in Riverside before the start of the 2011-2012 Clinic in the summer of 2011, and we welcome any suggestions you may have in this regard. The new Arlington Heights Sports Park looks like a good option once it is open. We are committed to continuing our successful program in Riverside as soon as practical! But in the meantime, Loma Linda is only 12 freeway miles further to the north, and is well worth the extra distance for the quality program that we offer!

Lopers Speed Group

The Team Lopers Speed Group meets at the Drayson Center track every Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.  This is open to all members. The Lopers wish to thank Russ Barber for leading this group. Russ can be contacted by email at marathoner26.2@sbcglobal.net or by phone at (909) 825-7566. This group is for experienced runners of any speed who want to improve their running times. (If the gate to the track is locked, you can use your Lopers ID to enter the field through the building.) The web site for the Lopers Speed group is at http://runnersmania.com. There is also an on-line discussion group for the Lopers Speed Group, which is available at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/loperspeed_news/

About the Lopers

The Lopers Club has something to offer everyone interested in improving their fitness through walking, jogging, or running. From the slowest beginning walker to the fastest experienced runners, we provide training geared to all fitness levels. We meet each Sunday morning at 6:30 at the Drayson Center on the campus of Loma Linda University and hope to have a suitable meeting place in the city of Riverside sometime during the coming year.

The Lopers Club is one of the largest running and fitness club in Southern California, with over 700 members.

One of the main activities of the Lopers' Club is to train walkers, runners, or joggers to complete their first full 26.2 mile marathon or 13.1 mile half marathon each year. Nearly 100% of the Lopers who enter our training Marathon or Half Marathon finish it! See our clinic announcement page for more information.

We also offer our members the opportunity to train with our Lopers speed group, which meets at the Drayson Center Tuesday night as indicated above. The Lopers speed group is for veteran runners of any speed who wish to improve their running speed.

For further information, see the President's Message, the Welcome Message, or call: (951) 769-8300 and leave message, or email info2@lopersclub.org.
