RUNNERS AND WALKERS!

No matter what is your age or fitness level, join the LOPERS CLUB and train for fitness or the marathon or half marathon of your choice!
Our 2011-2012 Marathon and Half Marathon ttraining clinic is complete. But it is never too late to join for fitness or train for the race of your choice! Click here for more information.

Announcements

We are now in the period between the end of our 2011-2012 Marathon/Half Marathon Clinic and the start of the 2012-2013 Clinic in August, 2012. We continue to meet at Drayson Center on Sunday mornings, but our meetings will be more informal until the next clinic starts in August. There may be announcements, but there will be no formal program, water stops, or refreshments. However many of us will continue to meet to train for the next race of their choice or for fitness, and there will be experienced people there to help new members start their training and give information about the Lopers. You are welcome to join the Lopers at any time! Memberships purchased now will be valid through the end of the 2012-2013 clinic in 2013.

Current Information

Drayson Center has informed us that from now on, Lopers will need to have their membership tag in order to enter the Gym on Sundays.  Most of us keep it on our shoe or key ring.  If you lost your tag, members can get a replacement on Sundays at the desk by the main entrance. There is a small charge for replacement tags, so please don't lose them!

Registered Lopers are invited to join the Lopers Club Network, to receive email notifications of interest to active Lopers (not too many!) and for other benefits. Go to http://lopersnetwork.ning.com for more information or to join. This is for Lopers members only; you will need your membership number on your Lopers tag for your application to join to be accepted. Once you join the network, please also join the group for your pace group and location.

The on-line discussion group for the Lopers Speed Group is available at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/loperspeed_news/. The Lopers wish to thank Russ Barber for leading this group.

Click here for Suggested Maintenance, Full and Half Marathon Training and Marathon Recovery Schedules that can be used for any race that you select.

Lopers members can join the Drayson Center Gym for a significantly reduced cost of $250.00 per year. Membership includes use of pool, weight room, aerobic classes, etc. You can do your cross training at the gym! Check at the Loper desk on Sunday morning to sign up. This offer is good through the Lopers only.

Lopers Speed Group

The Team Lopers Speed Group meets at the Drayson Center track every Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM for warm-ups and 6:30 PM for workouts.  This is open to all members. The Lopers wish to thank Russ Barber for leading this group. Russ can be contacted by email at marathoner26.2@sbcglobal.net or by phone at (909) 825-7566. This group is for experienced runners of any speed who want to improve their running times. (If the gate to the track is locked, you can use your Lopers ID to enter the field through the building.) There is also an on-line discussion group for the Lopers Speed Group, which is available at http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/loperspeed_news/

About the Lopers

The Lopers Club has something to offer everyone interested in improving their fitness through walking, jogging, or running. From the slowest beginning walker to the fastest experienced runners, we provide training geared to all fitness levels. We meet each Sunday morning at 6:30 at the Drayson Center on the campus of Loma Linda University and hope to have a suitable meeting place in the city of Riverside sometime during the coming year.

The Lopers Club is one of the largest running and fitness club in Southern California, with over 700 members.

One of the main activities of the Lopers' Club is to train walkers, runners, or joggers to complete their first full 26.2 mile marathon or 13.1 mile half marathon each year. Nearly 100% of the Lopers who enter our training Marathon or Half Marathon finish it! See our clinic announcement page for more information.

We also offer our members the opportunity to train with our Lopers speed group, which meets at the Drayson Center Tuesday night as indicated above. The Lopers speed group is for veteran runners of any speed who wish to improve their running speed.

For further information, see the President's Message, the Welcome Message, or call: (951) 769-8300 and leave message, or email info2@lopersclub.org.

Comments or suggestions concerning the Lopers Web Pages are welcome.  Send them to info2@lopersclub.org.
