Announcements

The training schedule for the Lopers 2009-2010 Marathon and Half Marathon Clinic is now available. Separate schedules are given for those training for the Marathon and the Half Marathon at Surf City.

The Lopers Club has changed the Clinic Training Route in Loma Linda to make better use of suitable roads, paths and neighborhoods in Loma Linda, avoid traffic on Barton Road and San Timoteo Canyon road and future construction sites, and provide a better route for longer distances. Click here for more information.

Registered Lopers are invited to join the Lopers Club Network, to receive email notifications of interest to active Lopers (not too many!) and for other benefits. Go to http://lopersnetwork.ning.com for more information or to join. This is for Lopers members only; you will need your membership number on your Lopers tag for your application to join to be accepted.

The meeting time for the Lopers Speed group has been changed to 7:00 PM. It will change back to 6:30 PM again in October.

The Spring, 2009, issue if the Lopergram is now available at our newsletter page. (The online version has more pictures in color!)

Soon, the Los Angeles City Council will be voting on whether to move the date of the Los Angeles Marathon back to March. If you believe the date should be moved back to March, we encourage you to sign the petition supporting this. The petition can be signed online at thepetitionsite.com.

As shown above, the next Lopers Marathon Clinic will start on July 12 and will focus on the Surf City Marathon and Half Marathon 2010. We chose to focus on Surf City again because of the great experience many Lopers had at Surf City 2009 and because of uncertainties about the date for the Los Angeles Marathon in 2010. We will have options for training for other races in 2010 as well as for training the LA Marathon 2010 if it is held in March.

Congratulations to all finishers of the San Diego Rock-N-Roll Marathon! Results are available on the Active.com web site.

Although the next formal Clinic starts on July 12, you are welcome to join early and start training for fitness or your next race! Just come to our meetings on Sundays at 6:30 AM at the Drayson Center on the campus of the Loma Linda University in Loma Linda or at the California Citrus State Park, at 9400 Dufferin Avenue (at the corner of Van Buren), in Riverside (see MapQuest map). People will be there to advise you on on your training goals. Click here for more information. Memberships are valid through the end of the 2010 clinic in July, 2010.

Riverside Chapter

The Riverside Chapter meets at 6:30 AM on Sunday mornings at the California Citrus State Park, at 9400 Dufferin Avenue (at the corner of Van Buren), in Riverside (see MapQuest map). Parking is available at the dirt lot on Dufferin Avenue across the street from the park slightly to the north of the main entrance. Enter the park through the gate across the street from the parking lot. (The main entrance is normally closed when we meet.)

The Riverside Chapter is conducting the Marathon clinic in parallel with that in Loma Linda (see below), with the same program and training schedule. We have programs for both Marathon and Half Marathon training, and also for those who would like to train just for fitness or shorter races. The Clinic opening day will be on July 12, and will continue each Sunday thereafter. Click here for additional information about the ongoing Marathon Clinic.

A map of the new marathon training route for the Riverside chapter is now available. Click here for a map of the route on PDF format. The route is also available on MapMyRun.com.

About the Lopers

The Lopers Club has something to offer everyone interested in improving their fitness through walking, jogging, or running. From the slowest beginning walker to the fastest experienced runners, we provide training geared to all fitness levels.  We meet each Sunday morning at 6:30 at the Drayson Center on the campus of Loma Linda University or at the California Citrus State Park, at 9400 Dufferin Avenue (at the corner of Van Buren), in Riverside (see MapQuest map).

The Lopers Club is one of the largest running and fitness club in Southern California, with over 700 members.

One of the main activities of the Lopers' Club is to train walkers, runners, or joggers to complete their first full 26.2 mile marathon or 13.1 mile half marathon each year. Nearly 100% of the Lopers who enter our training Marathon or Half Marathon finish it! See our clinic announcement page for more information.

We also offer our members the opportunity to train with our Team Lopers speed group, which meets at the Drayson Center Tuesday night at 6:30 PM. Team Lopers is for veteran runners who wish to improve their running speed.
